Another option for instant messaging is a free program named
Miranda-IM, one of the smallest clients available.  Miranda
has plugin modules for Yahoo, AIM and MSN, in addition to
ICQ which it was originally developed for.

ps.  I use Miranda on Win95, even ran on my old 486DX4 with only
24 meg total RAM!
