Hi ,

I am trying to buit an initrd image but the I get the following error:

# mount: the kernel does not recognize /dev/loop0 as a block device
                 (maybe 'insmod driver' ?)
Can't get a loopback device.

I went through my kernel and I am sure I did select the loopback device.

This is part of the HOWTO:

Making an initrd image

An initrd image is needed for loading your SCSI module at boot time. The
shell script /sbin/mkinitrd can build a proper initrd image for your
machine if the following conditions are met:

- The loopback block device is available.

- The /etc/conf.modules file has a line for your SCSI adapter; for
example:
     'alias scsi_hostadapter BusLogic'
I've also checked the conf.modules file and I've got a line aliasing the
scsi HD:

'alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx'
What can I do in order to avoid the above mentioned error ?

Is there any way i can load the loopback device before running the
mkinitrd command ?
