just in case... next silly question: how do I find out *which* SCSI
device is emulated?
marvin:/home/brauki # mount -tmsdos /dev/sda4 /mnt
mount: the kernel does not recognize /dev/sda4 as a block device
(maybe `insmod driver'?)
marvin:/home/brauki #
(same with any other partition on /sda)
I do not know the module name to insert, a guess sais ppa, but I fear
that's the parallel port version that is not doing any good to me.
marvin:/home/brauki # insmod ppa
/lib/modules/2.0.35/scsi/ppa.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
marvin:/home/brauki #
Here, I am stuck with an uncertain module, very probably other errors
and less clues.

followed a few links from the zip howto, but did not see anything
obvious.

Yes, as mentioned above, I came so far to discover all that. Reading a
bit more in the SDB that hinted me to SCSI-emulation (that I overlooked
because I mistook it with the SCSI version), but my kernel compiles
failed with some obscure message (something like SCSI support needed). I
was about to cry HELP!! to the list for that, when I had the idea to
include the SCSI support not as a module, but fixed. My kernel compiled
this time and I could not access my drive yet.
I know, there are different drives about: ide, atapi and scsi for the
internal. For atapi, the howto sais include IDE/ATAPI disk (what I did).
I'll have another go at ide.txt in the Doc* directory, but I got only
few hopes for success, since a quick search did not reveal direct hits
for searching "zip". I always live in the fear to have purchased the one
broken device from the whole lot. ;-(
Again: Any help appreciated.
