Thanks for the advice.
I tried what you recommended, but no luck.
I even rm -rf'd the lp1 directory (and its subs), called yast, and
reconfigured a printcap from scratch. The new printcap set
up a new set of directories under /lp1, and got rid of some junk.
*Still* no luck. I can't get a handle on what's happening here. I've
even rebuilt a new bzImage or two, not that this should help.
I'm running out of ideas. Whew.
