I consider myself THE expert having just had the worst time. Since Jan 1
1999 I have had to buy several and swap some more. It's all been my own
fault (well mostly) if only I had had enough sense to ask. Now I have it
working I never want to do it again.

Almost everything nowadays is winmodem, but some will work anyway. PCI
modems are to be stayed away from until somebody writes a work aroun. I
wouldn't have a clue. Other internal modems may or not work, but stay away
from those that say "Minimum requirements: Win something." Try to get the
bloke in the shop to say he'll have it back if it doesn't work with
non-windows.

Go for external. Besides they have flashy light; it impresses me anyway :)
Even the ones I got have a "Minimum Requirements: Windows ..., " but I think
the difference here is that it say's it will work with 3.1. That was the
clue I went for and it is fine.
