IMHO, Star Office has gone way down hill. I find it very very slow on my
166MMX machine. I hate to say it, but MS Word under 95 on my office machine
runs rings around it. The only Star Office has going for it is that it is
running on a stable OS. I had run SO3 for a brief momemnt in time and that was
reasonably quick. SO5 has gone way down hill in the interface, in that it is
trying to replicate Micro$oft.

Applix I found fairly quick. Too bad its registration runs out after a few
months. Interface is particularly Eurpean in style, but very functional.

WordPerfect--well that is my favorite. It is quick, intuitive. Just my style.
I now await Corel to port the rest of their suite to Linux.

If there are epigrams, there must be meta-epigrams.
