Ummm....uhh, I accidently deleted /var. I'd been trying to move
from 2.0.36 to 2.2.3 off and on all day, and finally got it working when I
remembered that "make bzlilo" was sticking everything in / these days.
So, I did a "mv v* boot" and "mv S* boot". I changed to my boot directory
and saw that var had found its way there, too...and forgetting that I
mv'ed, not cp'ed, decided to "rm -rf var". Ouch. Yes. I *really* did
that. I didn't even realize what I'd done until the kernel started looking
for stuff in /var and couldn't find it... <:( never claimed to have any
common sense...
So, do I have to reinstall SuSE (i'm using 6.0), or is there
another less time-consuming way to resurrect my precious directory?

May the Gods forgive me for this cardinal blunder...
tanks, see.
