Hello list,
I'm a newbie to linux, last week I installed Suse 5.3 on a 486 dx25.
This went relativly simply, yesterday I tried
to install it on my other computer. A K6-2 at 300Mhz. Unfortunately this
is a SCSI system. After trying several times to install linux from my
cdrom I stopped.
What was the problem: I have a Adaptec 1515 controller in it. Linux
reconized it as a module, so far so good cause it took a while. Then I
tried
to get my cdrom to work. I almost tried evrything. Autoload of mudules
doesn't work.
When I went into M$ Windhoos I saw the Adapted card is at IRQ 10. When I
load the aha152X module it tells me that the card is at IRQ 11, but also
say that this is maybe wrong. Any one have a idea what is wrong( don't
say Windoze, cause I already know it isn't stable etc. !) ???
Cause windooze isn't stable enough and I will have acces to the Internet
by a cable-modem ( If anything goes right) soon I'm planning to build a
little LAN at home,
I'm plannig to use an Linux pc as a gateway and also as Samba Server.
Here is my second question about. Last week a read a mail about a NIC
that was very good with Linux. I don't know the brand anymore. Something
with King????? Can someone tell me what the name is? And how much they
plus/minus cost?
Greetings Martijn Rouwen
