Hello.

After careful consideration, I finally decided to try to recompile my kernel.

I went to /usr/src/linux and ran the make xconfig from a kde window.

Then, being a bit scared, all I did was change the CPU TYPE to 586. The manual
said that it was more optimized for a Pentium processor. So I decided go for it.

Anyways, I changed that, and then said SAVE AND EXIT.

Then, I typed

make dep clean zImage

3 minutes later after the kernel is compiled and zImage runs...... I get this
error.....

Root device is (3, 5)
Boot sector 512 bytes.
Setup is 4408 bytes.
System is 526 kB
System is too big
make[1]: *** [zImage] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory /usr/src/linux-2.0.35.SuSE/arch/i386/boot'
make: *** [zImage] Error 2

Now I don't know what the error means........but does it have to do anything with
HDD space?!

Oh one more thing........

I already copied the old kernel to /vmlinuz.old

So I have the old kernel still intact (smart thinking eh!? )

Please anyone, help me ASAP
