If it's a winmodem, and you do a pnpdump >/etc/isapnp.conf;
you should get a huge isapnp.conf with about 20 different
registers to set up.
There is web site somewhere that lists all winmodems by
manufacturer. Look at this list's archive, it has been
mentioned 3 or 4 times.
