I can't say anything about the SuSE tarbal.  Havent even looked at it.  I got mine
from a Linux kerel mirror.  My guess is, if the file name has SuSE it is a SuSE
modified kernel if not it is the "raw" kernel.  I haven't had any new problems
with the 2.2.3 kernel.  My kscd CD player still doesn't work.  That started with
2.2.1.

There are some changes that can get you with the 2.2.x kernel.  On is that it
moved the default  lp assignments.  I don't remember the details of this, but if
(when) you find your printer doesn't work, don't panic.  Just search the archives
of this list and you should find an answer.
