I currently have an 8.4Gb IBM drive and have no problems under Linux
/boot is /dev/hda2 since I have DOS at /dev/hda1. My other partitions
start at /dev/hda5 since I use one large extended /dev/hda3 for all
the other logical partitions where I have swap /opt /home and /.
I'm not sure what SMB is but I don't think it is related to the
drive size. I also have the fdisk warning about cyl 1027 vs 1024.
Good Luck
