A few words about remote root login...
I was experimenting with xdm --> you actually can login as root from a
remote machine. Even though root login is impossible via telnet.
This is what I did:
machine 1 -- running Solaris x86 and CDE
machine 2 -- running S.u.S.E. 5.3 and xdm
from CDE login screen on Solaris -- choose remote login --> choose the
IP address of your linux machine running xdm --> you get the
linux xdm window with linux login prompt --> login as root --> OK
I was able to do the same to my neighbors running linux and xdm (I live in
an apartment complex wired with ethernet).

Is there a way to disable this type of root login?
Thanks in advance,
