Sounds like you forgot to install the qtdevel, qtext and
qtcompat packages.

It's a library for writing graphical user interfaces. KDE, for
instance, uses it.

No, you shouldn't have to bother about that. If you use the qt
stuff that came with SuSE Linux, the necessary settings are done
automatically.

Again, if you use the qt supplied with SuSE, a
rpm -q qt
will tell it.
