I don't think that just because Linux is running on a 64-bit chip means it is running 
64-bit binaries.
Remember the win-16/win-32 transition?  I didn't see anything that convinced me GCC is 
creating binary
code with 64-bit instructions on the GNU page.  I believe this work may be going on 
under a
non-disclosure agreement somewhere.  Oh well, we keep our ears to the ground.
