ok, now the questions:

- did it work from the console or only from within X?
- do you use a framebuffer console (which?) or plain VGA?

There is some documentation on how to find the "perfect" options on
http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram, especially the part about "boot with 
init=/bin/bash..." is important :-)
