This would be very much on-topic on suspend.sf.net, there's maillist
there. And in its archive, they are few suggestions... like patch
making it beep on resume.

Does it also hang if you boot init=/bin/bash, vanilla 2.6.18-rc3,
minimum drivers, preferably nosmp and noapic?
