People _should_ use hibernate or some other wrapper (like powersaved
for example :-) that helps them make the system "secure" for suspend.
You'd probably want to unmount those external USB drives and possibly
have to remove one or the other broken driver before suspend for example.

In fact, since hibernate handles both swsusp and suspend2, we probably
should encourage people to try swsusp with hibernate, i am pretty sure
that we would get rid of most of that "swsusp doesn't work but suspend2
does" reports this way.
