I really hate it. At least for such small projects like this one, where
the configure script tends to blow up the tarball size by a factor of 2
at least.

If we identify the features we really need from it, it should be easy to just
put that into CONFIG_* in the Makefile or into a small configure script.

Thats my humble opinion on the subject :-)
