you guys made my day - wish i read the whitelist doc 12 mths ago...

s2ram -f
successfully suspended and resumed
the mouse locked up seconds after resume (running kubuntu)... ( i didnt follow
your advice and use a 'minimal' system with just a bash shell).. but, i think
thats an issue external to the funtionality of s2ram
