Hi,
with recent kernels I'm having several problems suspending with
s2disk/s2ram. The last kernel it has been working flawlessly was 2.6.18.1:
First, here's what the working kernel says:
2.6.18.1:
s2disk:
Except for the message "pm_ops ->prepare failed, using 'shutdown
method = shutdown'. Reason: Inappropriate ioctl for device"
everything is working fine
I can avoid the message by specifying 'shutdown method =
shutdown' in /etc/uswsusp.conf
s2ram: I need to use 's2ram-f'. It's working fine then with the
fglrx driver
Here are the other kernels I've tried:
2.6.19.7:
s2disk:
System hangs on "s2disk: Snapshotting system". After approx. 30
seconds the WLAN LED turns off and I hear a clicking sound as if
the sound system has been switched off.
s2ram: Hangs on "Suspending console(s)"
2.6.20.4 (mostly successful!)
s2disk:
The system suspends successfully. But after resume
1. The LED indicating that the system is in {On/Off/AC attached}
state is blinking orange. It should be constantly green.
2. Sound won't work afterwards (I read this should be fixed
in newer kernels)
s2ram:
Like 2.6.18.1
2.6.21.6:
Fails just like 2.6.19.7.
2.6.22.1:
Fails just like 2.6.19.7.
I've tried several 2.6.22.1 kernels: With or without NO_HZ and
HIGH_RES_TIMERS enabled, even a stock Debian kernel didn't work.
I'm using Debian/unstable. The laptop is a Centrino/Pentium M.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Felix
