Perhaps you can clarify the distinctions for us? In my opinion, a society of responsible citizens should be able to have some agreed-on rules to live by, instead of arbitrary decisions with no continuity. We'd have to live our lives conducting Polls to figure out what is acceptable today. I prefer to have the rules known in advance, and expect people to stay within them. These rules are called laws.
