Kim My wife, Boo and I, will have been married for 20 years this July, and we are happier now than ever!! However, all of our friends that married around 1983, '84 and '85 are all divorced now, some two or three times over. We know only one other couple that has been married over ten years. I agree with the idea of the self-centeredness of our society. Another underlying (or subconsciencous) idea causing this 30 or 40 year-old trend is the "throw-away" or disposable lifestyle Americans have developed. When arguments arise, people tend to take the easy way out, rather than work through their problems, which is the same mentality of "throw-it-away-when-you-are-tired-of-it" kind of thinking. This is contrary to our fathers and grandfathers who lived through adversity like the Great-Depression or the World Wars, where people had to pull together to survive.
