Methanol recovery: Best solution I have found is to use a BOC Edwards 80m3/hr 50mbar vacuum pump for flash evaporation at 55'C. At this pressure, methanol boils at 10'C. The process stream is at 55'C so therefore the combined thermal and barometric condition ensures all of the methanol flash evaporates very fast.
The QDP series are used in the semiconductor industry and operate without oil lubrication. If you use say a 1 or 2 stage EM series pump even with a molecular sieve before the vacuum stage, the oil will saturate with methanol very fast. So in all honesty, dont bother with one of these. Go for either a DryStar or QDP series pump BUT have a deep pocket.
