I haven't done it but I think the answer is "enough", not very 
helpfully. I don't know how you could give accurate measures, 
considering the wide variation in sawdust types, composition and 
consistency, plus the other cellulose materials mentioned 
(cornstalks, newspapers, etc), and that anything between 91 and 98% 
sulphuric acid can be used. I know it's fast though, the cellulose 
almost immediately goes black, I have that much experience of it. So 
can you add the sulphuric progressively, stirring the while, until 
all the sawdust has turned black? If you weigh the sawdust first and 
measure how much sulphuric it takes then you'll have a usable measure 
for that kind of sawdust at least.

We've had very little feedback on this method, though a lot of people 
have accessed that page. I'd be grateful for anything you could send 
me on your experiences with it. As and when.
