My guess is that lawn mower and lawn tractor engines are fairly low compression and not fussy about fuel. I would not try any amount of biodiesel in a high performance gasoline engine like a car engine,
For gasoline engines I would think that ethanol blends with gasoline are much to be preferred. The fuel requirements of spark-ignition gasoline, and diesel engines, are entirely different.
