Who was saying we dont need standards? Please read the forwarded message
below and tell me why we dont need standards? BTW the list I pulled this
meassage from has some 700 members. Many of whom own heavy diesel rigs. I
could preach good things about bio-d all day, but it takes one bad
experience on a large listserv to discredit it all.

FWD: Gelled biodiesel: what do I need to do?
Hi, all.
Well, in addition to wiring problems that prevented me from coming to
NWMF in my 416, I also developed problems with fuel over the weekend.

I took delivery of a tankful (45 gallons) of biodiesel from a commercial
vendor last Thursday. Once the system was primed, she fired right up and
ran great. The problems started overnight.
Next day, she started up fine, but almost immediately sputtered and
died. Close examination of my transparent pre-filters (installed before the
fuel tank switch) revealed a milky appearance. Looking into the fuel tank,
I could see a layer of congealed fuel several inches below the surface. I
took out some samples, and tried melting and then refrigerating them, and
even just leaving melted samples out to cool to room temperature. In every
case, some degree of gelling occurred, even at 60-70 degrees F.

Rest assured I'm trying to get in touch with the vendor. But I'm
wondering how difficult it is likely to be to clean the gel out of the fuel
system? Do I need to remove the injectors altogether to clean them? What
kind of effort can I expect from this?
My immediate thought is to drain the tank (obvioously), put some regular
diesel in there, heat the tank up on a warm day when the gelled fuel might
be at least a bit runny, and try to run the heated diesel through the entire
system. Any other ideas?

Best,
