I know how powerful it is (though I wouldn't call it "sentiment"). 
You don't have to be living in the US to have direct experience of 
it. I've also been posting messages here on the waning of it's 
influence, and the rise of opposition to it, from before Mearsheimer 
and Walt's efforts. Now there's not only AIPAC and the ADL, along 
with Rabbi Weiss et al there are also groups like J-street:

Good on you Robert.

Quite a lot of people have ugly experiences in the US or entering the 
US these days because their name is on "some list", it seldom seems 
to make any sense, and the cases I've read of had nothing to do with 
Israel.

I disagree with you on the same point again, where you claim these 
people make up the vast majority. I don't think they do, I don't 
think they ever did (though they make/made a disproportionate amount 
of noise).
