CALL FOR ENTRIES: SewGreen is hosting a "creative reuse" gallery show of
original and redesigned fashions; fabric and fiber art; and creative stitchery
at the Community School of Music and Art, in downtown Ithaca, in the month of
April, 2009, with an opening soiree and fashion show on April 3. Entries must
be completely made or reconstructed from reused or existing materials. Items
may be priced for sale but must remain in the gallery for the duration of the
show. Contact Wendy, [email protected] for guidelines.

SEWGREEN TEACHER TRAINING: Join our teaching team! SewGreen is offering free
training in teaching sewing for kids, teens, and adults. Basic sewing skills
are required but teaching experience is not necessary. Prospective teachers
should enjoy working within a culture of sustainability and diversity. Teacher
trainings will be held twice in January: 6 - 9pm, Wednesday Jan 14 and 21;
repeated 1 - 4pm, Saturday Jan 24 and 31. Information and applications are
posted on the SewGreen website, www.sew-green.org.

SEWING LESSONS FOR KIDS: SewGreen is offering private and small-group lessons
in beginning machine sewing to children 8 to 12, by appointment. We can also
teach a parent and child together. Lessons can be scheduled after school or on
Saturday mornings. E-mail Wendy, [email protected]. Include your child's age
and what times/days of the week you prefer. Gift Certificates are available. A
limited number of scholarships, based on economic need, are available.

SUNDAY OPEN SEWS, 1 - 4PM
The SewGreen classroom is open on the first and third Sunday of each month, for
anyone who wants to bring in a project to work on, or make a volunteer project
for SewGreen. No formal instruction; machines and supplies are available for
your use. SewGreen classroom, Women's Community Building. We have a doorbell
now!

SEATTLE TEEN DONATES FASHION SHOW PROCEEDS
SewGreen has heard from a high school student in Seattle WA, whose senior
project is a show of recycled and reused fashions. She emailed us to say that
she wants to donate the proceeds from the event's ticket sales to SewGreen.
Thank you, Gillian from Seattle, for a remarkable gesture -- and one which
seems to say: We need more SewGreens!
