There are several initiatives that I know of.   The Cornell Cooperative 
Extension has a database that matches up people with land to people who 
want to use it, and  a Land Bank Cooperative pilot project is starting in 
Danby.  The latter is for people interested in beginning gardening or 
farming enterprises and/or people who want their fields brush hogged and 
mowed for use as grass pellets.
