Dear friends,

Last September the kids and I have moved from Ithaca to Germany to help
make Germany a flagship country in climate protection by educating the
public on issues on climate science and solutions. By going into schools
and focusing on students and teachers I hope to reach a large number of
people. As an avian ecologist I also try to make people better understand
what science is all about. I love the combination of science and outreach,
but often feel I am in some no-women's land that is incredibly fun but
incredibly hard to work in.

Unfortunately, I have not yet been successful in establishing a
well-supported project, and am limited to giving presentations here and
there. I am also helping to edit a book with contributions from Nobel
Laureates that met at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research,
and work as editor for the Clean Energy project, a blog on cc and its
solutions. I LOVE editing and writing, but also love interacting with
people. But with all that I cannot support my family.

So I plan to return to Ithaca in the summer (where my husband works at
Cornell) if I find a place for me there.

I would deeply appreciate any hints of where or whom I could offer my
contributions to, and would be happy to send my CV to anybody interested.

Thank you, and have a great town-hall meeting! Ithaca is amazing!

Maiken
