FABRIC! RESCUED FOR REUSE

For beautiful and affordable as-new and virgin fabrics for fashion, quilting,
and home decor, check out the SewGreen display at Tuff Soul, 516 West State
Street, Ithaca. SewGreen has selected these remnants, which vary from 1 yard to
as much as 10 yards, from the generous donations of your sewing neighbors.
Vintage, classic, fancy, fuzzy -- it's a unique collection. Thank you for your
fabric purchases at Tuff Soul, which help support SewGreen's sewing programs
for kids and teens.

SewGreen's "Rescued for Reuse" program accepts donations of clean, folded
fabric, as well as yarn, trims, sewing notions, and sewing machines of any age
and condition. You may drop items off at Tuff Soul from 11 to 6 Monday through
Saturday, or at the Women's Community Building, Monday through Friday, 10 to 4.
Three-container limit. Bags are preferred to boxes. Please, no clothing,
linens, bedding, curtains, unfinished projects, or anything with pins. If you
have a large quantity of stuff, or a heavy machine (we love all kinds of sewing
machines!), contact us. Complete donation guidelines are posted on the SewGreen
website: www.sew-green.org

Your donations are essential to our program and help us keep our expenses low.
Almost all of the fabric, sewing supplies, and sewing machines in our classroom
have been donated. We use donated fabric to make items for Hospicare, our
charity-sewing client. We also give appropriate materials to other charitable
programs.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

SEWING MENTORS: If you can sew, knit, or fix sewing machines -- and like
working with teens from diverse backgrounds -- you may want to help this summer
with our teen team. We are expecting anywhere from 6 to 10 teenagers at
SewGreen Monday through Thursday afternoons, starting July 6. Some will be on
the job, via Youth Employment Services, and others will be apprentices. All
will learn to sew, understand the workings of a sewing machine, and how to
teach others basic sewing skills. They will also learn about different fabrics
and how to use and handle them, and there will be some chores to do as well.

REUSE RESCUERS: We can always use help in sorting, evaluating, measuring, and
folding donated fabric. We're also looking for knowledgeable or
mechanically-minded folks to help us clean, oil, and troubleshoot older sewing
machines.

TEACHERS & CLASS ASSISTANTS: If you like to sew and enjoy being with diverse
groups of people, consider joining our teaching team. We need teachers for
kids', teens', and adult classes. Training is provided. People of color are
especially welcome, to reflect our multicultural adult and youth participation.
