FIELD & FOREST AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
Tuesdays, September 29-December 1, 2:30-5:00 pm (10 week session)
at Dilmun Hill Student Organic Farm (corner Pine Tree Rd & 366 in Ithaca)
Youth aged 8 to 12 will experience life as both a hunter-gatherer and
a sustainable farmer. Primitive Pursuits staff will be joined by
Dilmun Hill farm managers to deliver a dynamic blend of ancient and
modern skills and practices. Join the adventure. Play the games. Hear
the stories. Learn the skills. Have fun! Cost: $150-$200 (self
determined sliding scale)
YOUTH NATURE AWARENESS PROGRAM: a homeschool program-for ages 8-16
Thursdays, September 10-December 17, 9:00 am-1:30 pm (no session
Thanksgiving Nov, 26)
at 4-H Acres, 418 Lower Creek Road (off Rt. 13 north past the
airport), Ithaca, NY
Homeschooled youth aged 8 to 16 will find out what it is like to be
fully immersed in the woods: gather their own food, build fires with
only sticks, and cozy up in a shelter of
leaves. Come rain or cold, we'll enjoy the splendors and luxury of
the woodland way. Join us, and you'll never look at the world the
same way again. Cost: $350-$450 (self-determined sliding scale)
NEW! TRACKS & TRAILS - a homeschool program for ages 4-8 (and parents)
Tuesdays, September 15-November 24, 9:30am-1:00pm (11 week session)
at Eco-Village, Ithaca NY
Homeschooled youth aged 4-8 can join Primitive Pursuits in September
as the Equinox ushers in autumn, the season of the gatherer. We will
prepare for the gray days of winter by harvesting the last sun rays
of summer, the colors of fall and stories to last us through spring.
Laugh, play, learn, and feel at home in the woods. Tracks & Trails is
both a gateway program for young children and parents to begin
exploring nature in a community context as well as for veteran
participants to continue building self confidence and skills in the
areas of natural studies, wilderness survival and leadership. **
NOTE: We ask 4 and 5 year old participants to be accompanied by an
adult but all participant parents are welcome and encouraged to join.
Cost: $250-$350 (self-determined sliding scale)
