Farm to Fork Ithaca - A Season of Celebrating Local Foods, Wine & Farms
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, The Downtown Ithaca Alliance, and the Cayuga Wine Trail have partnered to produce a series of events focused around the harvest season. Come join us in celebration of our local foods, wines & farms!!!

September 21 & 29 - Learn about Finger Lakes Wines and Winemaking
The Finger Lakes region has grown in prominence as a wine region as vineyards and wineries have expanded. Have you ever wondered what spurred the growth of the wine industry and why this area is suited for grape production? Dr. Timothy Martinson, Senior Extension Associate with the Cornell Viticulture Program, will trace the roots of the industry and discuss why wine grapes do well here, and what has propelled the Finger Lakes into a position of world renown for winemaking. If this inspires you to make your own wine then join Martha Gioumousis, a professional winemaker and consultant, for a winemaking workshop.

* Monday, Sept. 21 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM, Cooperative Extension, 615 Willow Ave, Ithaca- A very interesting look at one of the prominent agricultural revolutions that has shaped our landscape and created a tourism boom over the past 30 years. There is a $3 per person or $5 per couple charge for this program payable at the door

* Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6:30 - 9:00 PM- An Introductory Winemaking Workshop with winemaker Martha Gioumousis, a local professional consultant. What is needed for successful winemaking including grapes, equipment, processes and aging? Come fine out! Class size is limited, call to make a reservation at 607-272-2292; there is a $5 fee per person to attend.
