Historic Ithaca Presents Japanese Woodworking Workshop

Local carpenter Peter Wiedmann will present "A Sharpening Primer: Chisels
and Plane Blades" on Thursday, April 29 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Historic
Ithaca, 212 Center Street, Ithaca NY. This session, the second in a
three-part series on Japanese woodworking, will focus on sharpening chisels
and plane blades. Eastern and Western tools will be used to compare their
effectiveness on different types of wood. Participants may bring chisels,
planes, and wood cutting boards that need tuning up. The registration fee
is $25 for the general public, $20 for Friends of Historic Ithaca. Advance
registration is required. This session is required for those who wish to
participate in Part 3 of the series, where we will design and build a
section of fence using Japanese techniques. For more information and to
register, visit www.historicithaca.org or call (607) 273-6633.
