Yes, this would be an interesting test to perform. :-)

I may be able to get my hand into this particular idea in a near
future: it seems that it's already available for ubuntu [1]: I'm
currently waiting for the upcoming release [2] (of kubuntu) for a
taste of a SVG-enabled desktop [3]. ;-)
