We're testing a new page with alternative content, so we went into IE
and disabled the "Shockwave Flash" add-on. SWFObject still detects
Flash, and replaces the alternative text with the Flash, which of
course doesn't launch, displaying a broken object. Firefox handles it
properly as does Opera. Safari seems to work with the latest
SWFObject 2.1, but doesn't work with older versions (we still use
1.4).

Is this an IE bug, related to how IE "disables" add-ons? (It's turned
off enough so that the SWF doesn't run, but leaves enough enabled for
SWFObject to detect it.) Or is it something I'm missing?
