I only "see" the white square on the page on the page, but if you use an http monitor like firebug etc then you can see the calls being made to Adobe etc.
The EI dialog will only be shown if there is in fact a genuine newer version to install from Adobe than the one you have. The only official build (non beta / labs release) was 11.0.1.152. 11.2 beta 2 is in labs now, but that won't help test this situation. BTW - what exactly are you using to test the EI functionality on your page? Just requiring a higher version number than is available like I mentioned? If that is the case, and it is working as expected in 10.x then I think you are covered, as no user will hit your 11.x use case....
