In which case Windows 2003 is misinterpreting the '%', as a valid character in 
the
filename,  rather than as a wildcard synbol.  As to why that shoudl be the case?
A very good question!

Does the % work in Windows 2003 as a wild card when checking for filenames?  For
example, if you searched for all files starting with 'Jul', you'd write 'Jul%'.
     
What about your Character Map and Locale settings?  They may possiby affect.
