It's like that tree falling in the forest.  The logic is that
comparatively few people in North America want to hear the WS in
"...places nothing else can [be heard]".

The thinking is also that we North American hobbyists and WS
enthusiasts are adaptable and will change listening platforms if we're
motivated enough.

This is one reason I'm saddened that radio manufacturers (Eton / Kaito
/ Sangean) have not bothered to take up vocal advocacy position with
broadcasters - after all, if there's less stuff to be heard, fewer
people will want to buy new radios.
