If you have a wifi radio, you don't even need an HD radio to be
honest. Wifi is more stable than HD unless you're in relatively
close proximity to the transmitter. I can get a variety of HD
subchannels since they are usually streamed from the station web
site. And Richard is right... there isn't much of anything striking
available there for the most part.

I don't own one of these critters myself, thus it's tough to say.
From what I know, the Clear Channel cluster offers some automated
formats on their HD subchannels that aren't offered over the air.
Closer to Philly, WHYY and WRTI both have HD subchannels. WHYY's lone
subchannel (HD2) has classical overnight (when the main service has
BBCWS) and BBCWS during the day.
WRTI's lone HD2 subchannel is the alter ego of its regular schedule --
jazz by day, classical by night.
So, you're right..not much that is truly unique out there.
I'll be honest with you...I still regard HD radio as a technology
curiosity much like Digital Radio Mondiale. I have much more
diversity available to me on shortwave and streaming audio than I do
from HD radio.
It might be fun to get an HD radio from a source having liberal return
policies, try the radio for a week, see what's on, then take the radio
back for a refund.

At least in your area, is there anything worth listening to on
terrestrial
HD radio now? The last word I had at the fest was most HD
programming is
simply the same as what's on analog.
a.k.a horrible.
