Do we have any feedback on the MacOSX installer files?
I think the download pages should clearly say, perhaps on every page to use the program's built-in installer.

We get lots of support questions from MacSword and BibleDesktop users on how to install the downloads from CrossWire on a Mac. The answer always is the same: Use your program's install manager.

The Mac downloads only work for MacSword. Unzip on a Mac creates a folder with the same name as the file, but without the zip extension. By having KJV.swd.zip, this produces KJV.swd on the desktop (or in the download folder or where ever). If MacSword is installed then the *.swd folders don't look like a folder, but a MacOS package and the contents are hidden in Finder. One can double click on it to open it in MacSword. But unless the user moves it to a folder that MacSword looks at (IIRC: ~/Library/Application Support/Sword), it won't be seen by the program. It is not very Mac like to have people drag stuff into ~/Library/Application Support.

So we haven't been explaining that to them. (I field MacSword questions to CrossWire's support from time-to-time.)

Also,I don't think that PocketSword can use them.

I defer to Manfred on whether to keep them. I thought that he said here that they could go away now that MacSword has an installer. But I can't find it now.
