I wonder what you mean when you say "anything except an Apple iPod.  I 
use an iPod to download spoken word and music programming from my 
favorite international broadcasters for my morning exercise/walks.  Of 
course, I just download from a podcast list on my computer that I draw 
from iTunes and the iTunes Store.  If what you mean is that it's 
difficult to transfer broadcasts you record yourself to the iPod, I 
wouldn't know anything about that first-hand as I've never tried it.

For the record, mine is an iPod mini, the first generation that looks 
like a small pack of chewing gum.
