I use Radio-Time Red Button to record my favorite radio shows (both
live local radio broadcasts and internet radio streams) overnight while
I sleep. Radio-Time automatically adds the recorded mp3 files
to iTunes which I later synch with my iPod. It takes about a minute each
morning to synch my iPod with the radio programs from the night before!

I've owned and used Creative Products like Jukebox Zen
and Portable Media Center and I refuse to buy anymore
since Creative Medias "End of Product Life" (= no service/support)
in 18 months is bull crap. Like the Jukebox Zen ..... will not 'Synch"
with the latest and future Windows Media Players, you have to drag
and drop everything one at a time. The Portable Media Player will not
work with future Windows Media Player's .... so much for "Plays for Sure".

Apple always includes iPod firmware upgrades with the iTunes updates. I have a
Generation 3 and a Generation 4 iPod and both have had firmware upgrades
via iTunes.

Subject: Re: [Swprograms] OT: my wish list for an iPOD-like device

For what it's worth, my view is get more or less anything except an Apple
  I-pod.

I have an Apple I-pod and it's a super device for keeping a library of music
on but much less flexable for radio programme listening.

My listening on the train tends to be via a Creative Zen Nano. This works
like a memory stick so adding and deleting material is easy. It will also
record (at limited bit rates). This and Screamer Radio
  http://www.screamer-radio.com/<http://www.screamer-radio.com/> to capture MP3
streams might meet your
  requirements.

Now what I would really like is a deviece I will call the "car-pod". This
would connect by WiFi into my network at home when my car is parked and fill
up with material to listen to while driving automatically (like podcasts).
It would connect to my car stereo as a CD changer and be managed through a
web browser. All I need is for someone to sell one !
