Podcasts permit a shift of listening time from a set appointment to virtually
any convenient occasion. I do it while taking my daily (more or less) 3 mile
walk, while I’m “plodding along”.

While there are thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of great podcasts from
other sources, the ones sponsored via public radio have been vetted through the
worthy objectives of the medium.

Here’s what I’ve been listening to recently. I hope you might find these
suggestions — in roughly 90 minute bites -- helpful in enhancing your own
enjoyment of radio, our favorite medium.

“Your Questions Answered: Trump vs. the Rule of Law”
THE NEW YORKER RADIO HOUR - NPR and WNYC New York Public Media
From the attempt to end birthright citizenship to the gutting of
congressionally authorized agencies, the Trump Administration has created an
enormous number of legal controversies. The Radio Hour asked for listeners’
questions about President Trump and the courts. To answer them, David Remnick
speaks with two regular contributors: Ruth Marcus, who writes about legal
issues and the Supreme Court, and Jeannie Suk Gersen, who teaches
constitutional law at Harvard Law School. While the writers disagree on some
significant questions—such as the Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Trump v.
CASA, which struck down the use of nationwide injunctions—both acknowledge the
unprecedented nature of some of the questions from listeners. “They never
taught you these things in law school, because he’s pushing on areas of the law
that are not normally pushed on,” Marcus tells Remnick. (34”)

“Trump’s Fact Eradication Program. Plus, How Jubilee is Transforming Political
Debate”
ON THE MEDIA - NPR and New York Public Media
President Trump fired the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics
following a weak jobs report. How the Trump administration is threatening
government data. Plus, a viral YouTube channel raises questions about the
meaning of political debate. (52”)
