Greetings all,

This coming Monday, April 21, 1.00-2.30 in the
philosophy common room, Luke Russell from the
University of Sydney will give a paper titled:

He Did It Because He Was Evil

Abstract:

In his book The Myth of Evil Phillip Cole argues that
even if there were actual evil persons, evil would be
a redundant,pseudo-explanatory concept, a
psychological black-hole that is incapable of
explaining why people do wrong. In this paper I defend
the view that evil does have the requisite form to
function as an explanation, and thus,if
there are any actual evil actions or persons, evil
will be explanatorily useful.
