MACQUARIE POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS SCHEME (MQRFS) Macquarie University will offer up to six new research positions commencing in 2009 through the Macquarie University Research Fellowships Scheme. Positions will be awarded on a competitive basis and will be full time for three years.
The Macquarie University Research Fellowships Scheme has three main objectives: 1. To provide support at a postdoctoral level to researchers near the beginning of their research career who have an outstanding track record (relevant to opportunity) or who show evidence of excellent research potential. 2. To provide an incubation research period for early career researchers, allowing them to increase their competitive edge in securing research funding from non-University sources. 3. To enhance the research capabilities of existing and emerging areas of research concentration and excellence within Macquarie University. Package: From $72,372 pa, including base salary (Level A Point 6) $61,155 to $65,600 pa, annual leave loading and 17% employer superannuation. These salary levels will be adjusted in line with movements in the Academic Salary Scale of the Macquarie University Enterprise Agreement. Applicants may also apply for up to $50,000 to assist with research costs associated with the proposed Fellowship project over three years (up to a maximum of $20,000 in any one year). The Division of Society, Culture, Media and Philosophy (Macquarie University) welcomes expressions of interest from early career researchers (recent PhD or submitting by 4th July, 2008) interested in applying through one of the Division's Departments or Centres to the Macquarie University Research Fellowship scheme (MQRFS). Research in the Division of Society, Culture, Media and Philosophy is characterized by its engagement with contemporary social and cultural events and practices and its belief that theory and practice are, and must be, interconnected. At the same time researchers in the Division engage in basic research into matters of being (ontology) and knowledge (epistemology), and have a special interest in ethics as it affects all aspects of our personal and professional lives. Research in the Division is interdisciplinary as evidenced in the work conducted by its various Departments and Centres: Anthropology CRSI - Centre for Research on Social Inclusion Critical & Cultural Studies International Communication Media Philosophy Centre for Policing, Intelligence & Counterterrorism Sociology Women's Studies Warawara - Department of Indigenous Studies The assessment criteria for the scheme includes a consideration of the research environment of the host Department or Centre.
