Greetings all,

This Monday, May 26 1.00-2.30 in the philosophy common
room Dr. Mark van der Pals will talk to us about "A
theory of the electron".

Abstract: Quantization appears to be a fundamental
feature of the
physical world. It is the ultimate source of the
interpretational problems of quantum mechanics. It has
given rise, for example, to the Schroedinger equation,
and so to the interpretational issues connected with
that equation -- such as the nature of the quantum
field psi appearing in it, and the related
measurement and non-locality problems. Yet the origin
of quantization remains a mystery. I propose a new
advanced action interpretation of quantum mechanics.
The interpretation seems to provide a natural answer
to the question of the origin of quantization, as well
as to the question of the nature of the fields of
quantum mechanics.
