The Institute for Criminology Presents - Beyond Punishment:Rehabilitation or Revenge?
Thursday 26 March 2009 What is the purpose of punishment? Historically punishment has attempted to achieve a range of outcomes: retribution, deterrence, incapacitation and rehabilitation for example. More recently restorative principles have impacted on a range of criminal justice practices. This seminar considers some contemporary rationalities of punishment as well as public perceptions of punishment.
