The Centre for Time is pleased to announce a 5/6 week research seminar series by Professor Richard Healey of the University of Arizona, who is visiting the Centre as a University of Sydney International Visiting Research Fellow.
The series is be open to all, and MPhil and PhD students in Philosophy will be able to count it towards their coursework requirement. A provisional list of topics appears below. *Physics Without Building Blocks* 1. Introduction: physics, metaphysics and pragmatism 2. A pragmatic interpretation of quantum theory 3. Composition in physics 4. Representation, description and scientific explanation before quantum theory 5. Representation, description and explanation in quantum physics 6. Physics without building blocks: objects, properties, laws *Timetable*: 3-5pm Mondays on 1, 8 and 15 February; then 1-3pm Fridays on 26 February, 5 and 12 March. *Initial venue:* Philosophy Common Room (S413, Main Quad).
